How to retrieve 'lost' email distribution list?

I've had an email distribution list of 200 addresses and used this regularly
to circulate a newsletter.  The last time I distributed the n/l, my
distribution list vanished.  When I tryto open this from the toolbar I get
the following message. Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could
not access the specified folder location.
I've tried to reinstate the addresses from a hard copy file, but am unable
to set up a separate folder for these as the addresses end up as an
individual address in my Contacts folder.  Any ideas?

Clarify what you did. Clarify what actions produce this error message. Any
Outlook item you mistakenly deleted would be in your Deleted Items folder.
There must be more to this story.

Hi Russ,
The error message was produced when I clicked on my Circulation List Icon in
Microsoft Outlok.  There's nothing in the deleted items folder relating to
the 'lost' list. The last time I used the circulation list was with a mail
merge document which was standard procedure for me.

"Circulation List Icon?"
What's that?
Are you sure you're talking about Outlook?
