I imported an address book and now my emails are listed by first name instead
of last.  I went to 'Tools', Email accounts,'View/change existing directory'
and I chose the sort by last name.  However, it didn't work.  Any
suggestions.  Thanks,  Christina

Post your Outlook version. Clarify what setting you chose. There is no
setting to sort by Last Name.
Did you restart Outlook after you changed the sort order?

Hi Russ - you were right - I needed to re-start the computer and after I did
that it worked.    Thank you very very much!

Unlikely you needed to restart the computer.  You only needed to restart
Outlook.
