I believe they are in the Global Distribution list, because I cannot edit the
e-mail address @ the workstation even with Admin privledges.

The only tool that I know off but haven tried is GALMOD
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=186950 it is for older version so no idea
if works on newer incarnations, the only other way I know off is by your
administrator's delegating control of Active Directory to a select few - but
whether they would be happy with is anybody's guess.

You may want to have a look at Profiler. It's a web based tool that
gives users the ability to modify their information in Active Directory
(& GC).
