Several hours ago, the Outlook in my 2003 Office stopped retrieving my
received messages.  I reinstalled the software (which I've had on this
computer for more than 2 years) and still have this problem.  Microsoft has
nothing on its website dealing with this situation, and a cursory Internet
search has not produced an answer.  Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what this has to do with Contacts. You've posted no information.
Mail polling does not stop working for no reason. What changed? What now
happens when you poll?
I would not expect reinstalling Outlook to do anything. I would look at your
mail accounts' setting and recreate those for starters.

I did nothing after posting my message. The following day, the problem
disappeared as mysteriously as it had appeared.  I've done a complete Norton
anti-virus scan since but am passing this along for what it's worth.
