I should be able to sync multiple contact folders with Active Sync, not just the main contact folder. Perhaps if you assigned categories to your contacts and used a single default contact folder, they would all sync to your PDA/Phone yet still retain their usefullness in Outlook. If you categorize your contacts, you could (in versions of ActiveSync before 4.x) synchronize selected categories.
