We have Outlook 98 and want to send a mailer. Don't want
everyone to see everyone else's details.  I know you can
use the bcc field but when that arrives it won't show that
the mail was "sent to" the recipient, merely "copied".
Any way round it ?

What is it that you want it to show?
If you are trying to send a personalized email which makes it seem that
every recipient received a personal message, you'd need to use a mail merge.
