Address book doesn't show all addresses

If I click on my contacts folder in outlook it shows about 130 names. When I
click the little address book icon and select the contacts, only one name
shows. I've narrowed this down to a fax number or e-mail address. If you have
either one, the addresses appear as expected. In word, I can't enter an
address because ¾ of my addresses have no e-mail or fax, just plain old
addresses. I've been using Corel and they still appear in the address book,
but sooner or later I want to convert to Word. Mail/Merge works fine...I'm
confused.

Can anyone help me here?

Probably, but you've provided no information that would allow anyone to
help.
We don't even know what versions you're using, nor how you configured your
Outlook Address Book. The Outlook Address Book only displays electronic
addresses since that's all you'd need for electronic messaging.
Word's Address Book will display all your Contacts. The co-existence of
Corel's Address Book means we have no idea what your address book provider
you are even using.
I'd suggest doing some basic reading and posting back with more information.

The link you supplied seems to have a few days of reading, which I will do. I
guess I was just hoping that something as simple as inserting an address into
a document would have been a simple task on my part.

I have Office 2003. Configuring an address book? It's an address...can't I
just use it? Maybe the link has the 5000 steps it takes to insert an address.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but I HAVE been reading and reading to no avail. Now
I shall go read some more.

It's all explained there. You are confusing the Outlook Address Book (which
only needs electronic addresses) with the Word Address Book (which only
needs postal addresses)--two completely different services. Just read those
sections and post back with what you don't understand. If these two address
book are not behaving as they should, you will need to state how you
configured each and what other address book services you are using that
might interfere.

Russ,
I found the solution, but from a novices point of view, not a mistake.

I had used Word Perfect address book and MS Word liked it in my profile. Now
I figured it was time to cut the cord with Word perfect and import all my
addresses to Outlook. So far, so good. All went well.

BUT...they would not show up in word (here was my original problem I wrote
about).
Stay with me, I'm almost done.

What I just discovered was to remove the reference to the Word Perfect
address book (Outlook>Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing
directores.....). That's it! And to prove it, I added it back in and the
problem reoccurred. Deleted it, problem disappeared.

Bottom line: both cannot co-exist in the same profile and be used as I
thought. Now knowing the logic(?) behing all this I see what it's attempting
to do.

I apologize for the long explanation but if anyone else out there is as
confused as I was, maybe they will read this and benefit by my experience.
And your few words ("two completely different services") hit the nail on the
head.

Thank you...

Makes sense. You may notice I referenced the possibility that you were using
the Corel Address Book in my first post.
