I've recently been trying to build a contact list on Outlook2003. The
following are the steps I take.

1. From the Outlook 2003 toolbar, I click on the Address Book icon.
2. I then click on the new entry.
3. I select New Contact, and in the "Put this entry" box, the box is showing
"Contacts." I click OK.
4. I fill out the form with all then information I know and click on the
save and close button.
5. I go to look for the Contact and can not find it anywhere.

I've tried looking for the contact folder, but can not find it. Nor the
actuall address book file itself. I'm sorry, but with all my experience on
computers, I feel as if I am a total newbie and just cant figure this
problem out. If anyone can help, i would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks.

You add Contacts to a Contacts Folder. You can't and shouldn't try to add
anything to the "address book." It does not exist. It is just a view of your
Contacts Folder.

Thank you for responding so quickly, but I'm still a little lost. You see I
didnt think I was adding them to the address book directly. So if I was, how
then do I add an entry in? Where in my steps did I mess up? Lastly, where is
the contact folder?

Again, thanks for the help.

You said you clicked on the Address Book and then tried to add a new entry,
right? That's trying to add to a virtual view, not an actual data source.
Click on Contacts in the Navigation Pane to open your Contacts Folder, then
use the New... button to add a Contact.
