I have just installed Windows XP.  This is not upgrade. I had to install
Office XP and I imported .pst file. My contact lists are there. But I don't
see when I am trying to send a mail.  I have tried tools/e-mail
account/change address. The contacts are in a file named contacts under
outlook today.  I could copy the file.  However I could not paste the file in
Contact under Outlook to-day.  That file remains empty. I have created a sub
directory contact1 in under Contact in Outlook today.  The personal Address
book is empty.

I tried every way possible without any luck.

Importing a PST file is never the correct way to transfer data. If you are
lucky, the only thing you have lost is the connection between your Outlook
Address Book and your Contacts Folders. Read this:

If that doesn't work, create a new profile and migrate your PST file
correctly (open it in Outlook and designate it as your default delivery
store).
