I like the import/export feature in outlook for contacts. It's the reason I
migrated to Office 2003. However, it does not include an LDIF format for
import/export. This is the format that my data is exported from Mozilla
mail. While I was able to export the data from Mozilla mail in CSV format.
I then have to open the file in excel and create a data range name, and save
it in XLS format, then I can import the data in contacts.

If you can export your data in CSV - there is no need to open it in Excel.
CSV is a native file format supported by Outlook's import/export function.
