I am running Exchange Server 2003 under SBS 2003 for a small (5-user)
organization. These users used to use a different Exchange Server, but now
are using this Exchange Server only for shared contacts and calendar; their
email is being handled by a 3rd-party SMTP server.
Outlook 2002 and 2003 are running on the client systems. When a user goes to
create a new email message, names from the "Global Address List" are
displayed, although I am not sure where this list is coming from, since no
GAL is displayed on the Server. Further, when users display the E-mail fields
for the names, the Email Address Type is "EX" -- I believe it should be SMTP.
Finally, if I click on the Address Book icon, display the Properties of one
of the names in the GAL, and then click on the E-mail Addresses tab, I see
the following two lines:
SMTP: name@mysite.com
X400:c=US;a=mysite.local;p=MYSITE;o=Exchange;s=Lastname;g=Firstname
As mentioned above, I do not want the Exchange server to handle email; I
have an external SMTP server for this. Can someone give provide some
suggestions as to how I can fix this problem? I am a relative novice when it
comes to Exchange.
