how can i open a file with my contacts in palm software (the contacts part).

Word can print labels from Outlook's contacts. Check out the envelope &
label wizard

Not sure what you mean about the Palm Desktop since it can't see Outlook's
contacts. You can sync a Palm device with Outlook but not with Palm Desktop

You don't have to 'save' a contacts file. Simply enter contacts in the
Contacts folder in Outlook. Then to start the wizard in Word: File menu >
New > Templates on My Computer > Choose the wizard you want to use.

Actually, I was able to Export the Outlook contacts as "Tab separated
Values",  and Import them into the Palm! (I had to do *.* to find the file
when importing, then match the fields- quirky, but mostly worked.
