how do i transfer a long contact list from and old computer to new one?
The old computer has outlook, and the new one has outlook express. Is there
any way to transfer from one to the other or do i need to purchase outlook?
Also once i purchase outlook is it easy to transfer from my outlook which is
on a computer with Windows ME?

Explain what you mean by contact list. That could mean anything.
Are you saying your Contacts reside in a Contacts Folder in Outlook?

If you're moving to Outlook Express, then you swill have to export your
Contacts Folder to a format OE can import. CSV seems to work best for most.

The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:

Configure Outlook Express on the old one, transfer the address book there,
and then take the WAB file you generated in that to the new PC.  See
http://www.insideoe.com/ for lots of OE information.
