We have a problem with one of our users whereby their
contacts (which were input using Outlook Webmail) appear
properly in Outlook XP but when viewing the address book
they do not appear at all.

When I look at the contacts folder in Outlook XP, the
contacts are all displayed and look fine.  When I go to
the address book and choose to look at the contacts I
don't see anything.  Any new contacts I create (whether
in Outlook XP or Outlook Webmail) also do not appear from
the address book.

We have installed all the latest service packs and
patches and the problem is still there.

The Microsoft support article Q268565 suggests opening,
changing some details and saving the contact again.  I
tried this through Outlook and Webmail and it doesn't
help.

Can anyone help.

Mike.

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book. If it is not listed, back up one step
and add it. If it is, then click on Change. to make sure the Contacts
folder(s) you want to display are listed. You may need to enable the
Contacts Folder as an e-mail address book by R clicking the Folder >
Properties and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box.
Make sure you restart Outlook after making these changes.

We have already done this.  We can view the contacts
folder as an Outlook address book, it just doesn't
display anything.  There are lots of contacts in the
contacts folder but they aren't visible when viewing the
contacts folder as an Outlook Address book.

I think the problem lies with the contacts being created
in Outlook Webmail but now even if I add a contact in
Outlook XP it doesn't display in the address book.

Can you suggest anything else?

When you open the Outlook Address Book, what do you see in the "Show names
from the ..." dropdown?
