I'm using Outlook 2003 with SP-2. When a vCard is sent to me that contains text in the Notes area of the contact, the text is displayed when I open the vCard (which I believe SP-1 fixed from an earlier bug), but when the contact is saved, the information in the Notes area disappears. Other posts on this issue don't seem to indicate this as an issue. Am I doing something wrong when I save the vCard? This didn't occur in Outlook 2000 to my knowledge. I imagine that I can copy and paste the text information into the saved contact to get around this, but any idea if Microsoft is working on a fix? I can't duplicate the problem in SP2. Thanks Sue. Unfortunately I just tested it again and can't seem to get it to work. Here's what I did. I created a contact entry and typed information into the Notes area of the entry. I emailed that vCard to myself. I sent it from a machine running OL 2000 and received it on a machine using OL 2003 with SP2. When I open the vCard, the information that I typed into the Notes area is displayed, but when I save the contact entry and then reopen it in my Contacts, the text in the Notes area disappears. I sent it to myself with Outlook 2003, but a vCard is a vCard as far as the field holding the notes goes, so how it's created shouldn't matter too much. If you wind up with one that doesn't work, mung the personal information by editing in Notepad and copy it into the text of a reply post. Okay. Thanks Sue. I've tried it several times more on several different machines using Outlook 2003. And, while the information in the Notes area does show up when the vcard is opened (and when I open it in Notepad), it always disappears once the vcard is saved into my Outlook contacts. When I click on the saved contact the info in the Notes area is gone. This only happens in the Outlook 2003 Contacts. Perhaps it is just my issue, but it appears to be an issue with how Outlook 2003 saves a vcard in the Contacts directory. Thanks anyway. Have you applied at least Office 2003 SP1? What's your build number in Help | About. My build number is 11.8002.6568 SP2. Since I have SP2, I assume, that SP1 is also installed. I seem to remember that SP1 fixed a bug which would not permit a person to view the information in the Notes area of a sent vCard. But unfortunately it didn't fix the fact that that information in the Notes area disappears once the contact entry is saved and later reopened. I'm so very perplexed by this one--especially since I've been able to duplicate it on several other computers using Outlook 2003 that has SP2 applied. Jeff and Sue- I'm expereinceing the same problem with the same setup. The workaround I've found (albeit annoying) is to "touch" the notes after opening the vCard and before saving the contact. I've been doing this by adding an extra return in the notes. After doing this, then saving, the notes are preserved next time you open the newly imported contact.
