When I (outlook 2003) send my contacts to my friend (outlook 2000) she can
open them, but she cannot save them in her contacts list. The same goes for
distribution lists. How should this be done?

When she opens the contact can she use the Copy to or Move to Folder
commands on the File menu of the contact

In what format do you send them?

I select all the contact and then forward them to her. They appear in the
attachment and she can open them.
Another strange thing is that she cannot select addresses from her contacts,
they do not appear on her address book only the GAL.

That doesn't answer the question, though.  Are you using Rich Text, HTML, or
Plain Text for your message format?  Instead of opening the attachments, can
she drag them from the message to her Contacts folder?

She has to enable her Contacts folder as an address book.  Instructions
posted numerous times in this very newsgroup.  Google Groups is your friend.
