I'm trying to print an envelope in Word from the Tools menu (envelopes and
labels) and when I try to view and select an address from Outlook it displays
only the main Contact folder, but only one of several subfloders.

Are the other folders/sub-folders set to be displayed as address books?
Right click on one, choose Properties and go to the Outlook Address Book tab

Start in Outlook, select the Contacts, then Tools | Mailmerge and it'll work
a treat.
