I have two contacts folders...one is my offline or .pst folder and the other
is the one hosted from the exchange server. I'm running plaxo which only
synchronizes with my offline folder...I understand it does not synchronize
with the public exchange folder. Therefore, is there a way the offline
personal folder (which does sync with plaxo) can sync and merge with the
public exchange contacts on the server??

Any particular reason you're not using a real Offline Folder (OST) file
along with your Exchange mailbox?

No reason...somehow in the setup of the account I created a pst folder...not
sure how to set up an OST folder. Would that stay local and synchronize with
the exchange/server contacts?

Yes, it stays local & sync'd with your Exchange mailbox. Check with your
mail admin about setting one up within corporate guidelines
