When I try to save a new contact or a new appointment, I get an error message
which says: "Could not complete the operation.  One or more parameter values
are not valid."  I have not had this problem previously.  Any ideas on how to
correct would be appreciated.

Anything could cause that error message.
Can you at least provide some clues?
Like your Outlook version and information store?
And the changes you made just after "previously?"

That error message indicates either a corrupt profile or data file. Read
this information:
