contacts not showing up in address list

I try to do the following and it is "Grayed" out and I can not put a check in
the box. Why ?

Open Outlook in Folder View, right click on Contacts folder, go to
properties, Outlook Address Bk tab and choose Use this folder as an address
book.

You need to add the Outlook Address Book to your profile. Method depends on
your version, which you forgot to post.
