How can I disable Outlook from formatting phone numbers? It inserts a blank
after the third number and it messes up the synchronization with my mobile
phone. Thank you

You can't. Masking of phone numbers is hard coded.

Not really. Outlook serves as the database for countless synch programs. Its
job is to present a consistent interface. If the synch software has a
special formatting need, it is up to the developers of that software to
provide it.

Well, I have to disagree, a strong and good program such as Microsoft's
Outlook, should allow the user set his/her own parameters and formatting. But
anyway, this is not the place to discuss this. Keep up the good work, and
best regards

I'm from Norway and we've also encountered this problem in m
organization, with Outlook automatically formatting the phone number
and then messing up the mobile phones ability to recognize our contact
phone numbers when i.e. receiving a new call.
We had to change the Phone and Modem Options setting in Outlook fro
"Norway" to "USA" and then remove the selection "Automatically ad
country code to local phone numbers" in the Dialing Options dialog box
This stopped Outlook from entering blank spaces. I don't think this is
very good solution, but it worked for us.

You'd think that if Outlook was trying to provide a consistent interface
that it would use the ITU-T E.123 international formatting standard.
Or, omit the punctuation altogether and provide only digits in exported
phone numbers.

It would be nice to be able to specify the formatting mask as part of
the view customization, while exporting and programatic access continues
to use the "standard" format.

To submit product or service suggestions to Microsoft:

 1. Within the specific Microsoft Office product, navigate to the Help
menu.
 2. Click the "Contact Us" option.
 3. You can then use the "Make a Suggestion" link on the webpage to submit
any suggestion. This posts the suggestion to the "Microsoft Community". The
Microsoft Community is a public forum where you can submit suggestions for
Microsoft products and see suggestions that others have made. Community
participants vote for suggestions, and Microsoft uses the votes to help
prioritize features in upcoming versions.
