Is it possible to set up a common address book to be used by multiple Outlook
users, also having update capabilities

The Address Book in Outlook doesn't contain any data and cannot be shared.
It is a view of your Contacts folders' contents.  What can be shared are
Contacts folders, but you need a backend server for that.  See this for the
options you have: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.htm
