How do I remove an already deleted list from Outlook address bar?

I have five contact lists that have been deleted from our "public" folder
within our office network.  I did not create or delete these lists.
Unfortunately, once deleted, their names remained on my dropdown Outlook
address bar.  I cannot deselect that "show on my outlook address bar" option,
because the lists (and their properties menus) no longer exist.  How can I
delete those names?

This is an aggravating problem, because any future lists are added to the
bottom of the increasingly large dropdown address book bar, and I have to
scroll very far down to find the names of my active contact lists.

Thanks.

Remove them here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change. >

Hm.  My Outlook 2000 does not show an "email accounts" option on the Tools
menu.  Is there another place I should look?

Nice of you finally to reveal that you are using an unsupported Outlook
version :)
Please also reveal your mail support mode so we can provide an answer. If
you don't know, look at line 2 of Help | About in Outlook.
Please always provide your Outlook version with every question. Saves us all
some time.

Hi, Russ.

Sorry - I'm floundering a bit here as I try to figure this one out.  Yes,
I'm using Outlook 2000.  The "About" page reads:

Microsoft Outlook 2000 SR-1 (9.0.0.3821)
Corporate or Workgroup

It also mentions Dataviz, Inc, www.dataviz.com or (203) 268-0300.  When I
clicked on "Tech Support" it gives me another encyclopedia about where I can
get help.  Should I pursue that or can you help me?  Please?

Thanks. - Katie

OK. Then you should still be able to remove the outdated references to
Contacts Folders here:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties >

Arg.  I did what you said and am still getting all of the old list names when
I click:

New Mail Message > To > Select Names

and then click to show the list of contacts from which to choose my names.
How can I make those disappear?

Did you see these folders and remove them from the list?
Have you restarted Outlook?

Yes!  And now it worked!  : )  I did see the folders, remove them from the
list, and restart Outlook before my last message, but maybe I restarted it
too quickly, because it hadn't "taken" at the time of my last posting.  I'm
going to write down these steps for future use!

Thank you for your patient assistance.

Any thoughts on why my computer keeps kicking me out of MS Internet
Explorer?  I keep getting "error on page."  I have version 6.0.2800.1106,
with cipher strength 128-bit.  Anything I can do?

I know nothing about Internet Explorer. I don't even use a computer if I can
help it.
I bet they can help you in the IE groups, though.

Has to be Corporate/Workgroup, since the OP said "public folders", implying
Exchange.
