I am running outlook 2002 on windows xp.
A little while ago I saw the deadly blue screens a few times, the my harddisk
crashed. I bought a new computer and was able to access the old hard disk.
However, I can't find my old contacts or emails and I need them badly. Was
searching for PST files, but the ones it found seemed nearly empty.
Any idea in which folder outlook stores the address lists?

Unless you were running against Exchange Server, your data is in a PST file.
Did you enable a search for hidden files and search your old hard drive?
