I get a "you cannot sort by this field" when trying to sort by category in
contacts window in Outlook. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone
help?

Category sort is meaningless and impossible, since any contact may be listed
under multiple categories.
You would group by categories, and that is already one of Outlook's default
views for the Contacts Folder.

Hi The Kian,
Not you, known issue. Instead, choose to change view to "by category" to
allow you to group
View>Current View>by category:
