Tick box not accessible & cannot move contacts folder to address b

Using outlook, I cannot get my contacts folder to move to the address book
folder which is in the select names box, then in the drop down list show
names from the, which holds various address books, it should show my own
collection of email addresses in my own address book, I understand that in
order to enable this you have to go to contacts in the left hand side of
outlook, click on share my contacts and contacts properties box opens, then
you go to outlook address book and tick the box named show this folder as an
address book, however this tick box is inaccessible, it may be that I do not
have admin rights for it, but although we are networked I do have admin
rights for the computer, I do feel though that my back to back might have
shared rights with my folder somehow and that he is being classed as the
admin, I have tried changing the settings in his own desktop access and it
keeps defaulting back to default, he has access to this particular tick box
and can tick or untick it as required, I have tried changing his settings to
allow me to share his address but to no avail, can someone please help,

You did not provide your Outlook version.
