I have been trying to veiw:categories in contacts and only been aboe to have
one category appear.  I have double check and all of the categories I am
using appear in the Master Cat. List but I still only get one cat. to appear,
in collapsed form.  Is there a way to have contacts open to a collapsed list
of all my categories?

That's what the By Category view of the Contacts Folder does.
What view are you using?
