Why does Outlook 2002 autofill names in the TO: field
sometimes and not other times?  Even people I have
addressed email to regularly don't pop up when I enter the
first few letters sometimes.  Is there a way to directly
add names into the autofill list?  If the names are not
derived from the contact list, where do they come
from?

They come from a cache derived from messages you have already sent, not from
your Contacts. You cannot edit that cache directly.

Is there any way to make it possible to edit the cache ?

I have one unwanted name in the cache and would like to
delete it.  The reason is that the unwanted name is very
similar to another name in the cache, which has resulted
in my carelessly sending e-mails to the unwanted name.  Do
I have to delete the entire cache just to get rid of the
one unwanted name ?

I did find the cache on my hard drive and, having first
made a backup, tried deleting what seemed to be an
appropriate section of the cache.  The autofill then
stopped working altogether.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Kind regards,

Steven

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
