How do I put my different contacts into groups ( ex. friends, work etc.) so I
can send them mail more easily without having to put each of the adresses in
every time?

Postal mail or electronic mail? For the latter you can use a Distribution
List, although they don't work very well and are not reliable.
For the former, you can use Categories or separate Contact Subfolders.

I don't recommend DL's unless you need only small ones and don't need them
often and are happy to recreate them every time they get corrupt.
Usually Categories are a better alternative:
