You certainly don't want to save all incoming addresses, since that would
save all the SPAMmer addresses you receive. To save addresses to which you

This certainly isn't something I had done before my hard drive crashed. Isn't
there an option to turn this on without having to program it?

You are mistaken. No full versions of Outlook ever had the ability to add
recipients
automatically to your Contacts Folder. Only the long abandoned IMO mode of
Outlook 98/2000 did that. To automatically add the email address of people
you respond to to your Contacts Folder requires code.
