We've been using a public contacts folder for years, the number of
contacts in the folder has ranged from 3000 to 4000 contacts, typically
averaging around 3500.  Suddenly out of the blue yesterday when you
click on "TO:" and then bring up the contacts folder address book
outlook displays NO names in the select box (it's blank).  If you begin
typing a letter suddenly all the names show up ???
Normally, with all contact folders, all the names in the folder will
immediately appear on the list already and you could scroll through it.

The public contacts folder in question seems to functional normally
otherwise.
Troubleshooting so far:
I have copied the folder to my own personal mailbox in outlook and it
still fails after marking to include as an address book.  I then
emptied the folder and began copying back portions of the list in, and
it works!  But as soon as I copy enough contacts in there, it fails
again.
Do I have a corrupt container?  Any way to fix without creating a new
container and copying them all in?  It appears to be related to how
many contacts are in there, approximately 800 or so.

forget it we figured it out-- turns out some of our mac community was
clicking into some of these contacts using "enterage" which is a
quasi-outlook application and not completely compatible apparently.  we
cleaned out the contacts they had poisoned and the problem went away.
