Hello Vince
thank you for replying
it states that the address book could not be displayed. that it  could not
be opened or found and that it must have been deleted or moved

Sounds like you need to remove references to the old Contact folder and
readd a reference to the current one (even though it's the same folder just
moved).

Remove:
- Tools menu > Email accounts > View/Change existing address
books/directories > Click Next
- Highlight Outlook Address Book
- Click Change
- Remove all "Contact" folders shown
- OK out of dialogs

Add:
- right click on the Contacts folder
- choose Properties
- go to the Outlook Address Book tab
- check the "Show this folder as an email address book" box

Vince, thank you for a very helpful post.  In my Outlook 2003 I had the same
problem and your post fixed it perfectly.

The only thing I found is that after making your suggested changes I had to
close and re-start Outlook for the changes to take affect.

Thank you once again.
regards
Sean.
