I have a folder of addresses in my Contacts.  I would like to automatically
request a read receipt on any email sent to one of these contacts.  I do not
want an automatic read receipt on any other email addresses in any other
folders of My Contacts.

Specify a receipt request manually (View>Options in the Compose window) when
you send to that person.  There is no way I know to specify receipt requests
automatically on a per-contact basis.

I routinely ignore read receipt requests. I don't want to be bothered, just
as you are looking for a more user friendly way.  If the senders deserve a
response, they will get one.
