Auto Highlighting of Contacts

In Oulook 2003, when I click either the Contacts shortcut, or the
contacts folder in the navigation pane, I should be able to just begin
typing the name of the contact, and the selection will jump to the
proper record, correct?  I'm having trouble with this.

When I select "Contacts", I must then highlight a contact record before
I can begin typing.  Focus is not shifting into the detail pane.  I am
having trouble isolating the setting to have the first contact record
"auto-highlight" when I select the contacts folder or shortcut.

Anyone know where this setting is?

No such setting. This is a bug.
Turn off Outlook Today and the normal behavior will return.
