Is there a way to make a distribution list without having to individually
select all members I want on there? Specifically, I want to see only a
subset (which is currently defined by a category) that I would like to
convert into a distribution list (and then maybe take off one or two, as
opposed to having to select the 98 I do want).
Thanks for any guidance.

why do you want a DL? If you search here you'll find many comments from
MVPs about DLs being flaky and better alternative methods.

You have two ways: a dynamic dl (preferred) or group/filter then copy the
addresses, then paste into a DL.
