Email Addresses Appear in Contacts but aren't usable

I recently imported some data into Outlook 2002.  The data was from a
.csv file and consisted of a list names and email addresses.  I
imported it successfully into a subfolder of contacts called
"contacts-realtor".  The names and the email addresses appear to be
correct when I look at them in the contacts list, and have been
imported into the correct fields, i.e. "Name" and "Email".  However,
when I try to send an email to anyone in the list, their email address
will not appear in the "To" line.  Instead, I get a period when I
select the person to be emailed, and then semicolons for the rest,
nothing else.  It seems like it's bringing the email address from
another, blank field somehow.  Any suggestions?

Was just reading over my message and one of the sentences is confusing.
Here's the revision:  Outlook puts in a period in the "to" box when I
select the FIRST person to be emailed, and then a blank and a semicolon
for each of the rest of the intended recipients.
