Maximum number of Contacts in a Public Folder

On exchange 2000, we have a public folder that is used by our group of 30
users  as a 'roledex' if you will.

I trying to quantify maximum number of Contacts that exchange will allow.

How many do you expect to put in it? Exchange can hold more than most people
ever need... easily into the 10's of thousands but over about 5000 and it
tends to be sluggish.
