How do I remove area codes (+61) in contacts-Outlook

i have outlook 2003 and each time i put in a fax number to a contact it
inserts a default postal area code. i would like to stop this and stop the
+61 comming up for the australia area

you can't stop it. Do you have the dialing properties set up correctly in
control panel? If so, then it will dial the number without problems.
