I was entering a new contact when all of a sudden, any information I tried to
enter would not enter and I would hear a bell.  I've been using contacts for
years and have never had this problem.  How do I get it to work again

Impossible to know. Tell us the steps you used to break it.
Nothing happens "all of a sudden" for no reason. There is more to this story
you are leaving out. Include the steps you have used to get things working
again, Outlook version, and information store.

I closed the program and re-opened it again, twice.  I tried several names to
see if it was just the one person I could not enter.  It was everyone.

Later that evening, I found out that the Num Lock was off, which I never
turn off.  It appears that was my problem.  Thank you for the response.

I may have responded in the wrong box.  I closed down the program twice, and
also tried to enter other people thinking maybe it was just this one person.
It was all of them.  Later, during the evening I discovered my Num Lock was
off, which appeared to be the problem.  Thank you for your response.
