Presently using Outlook 2003 and all of my contacts are within the U.S. The
Country Code (+1) is automatically inserted for every contact phone number in
Outlook and is both unnessary and takes up monitor space particularly on the
limited amount of handheld device space. Can this be removed or suppressed?

If you misconfigure your Windows modem and dialing properties so that there
is no value specified for dialing a long distance number, Outlook should not
add the +1. You can use this tool to get rid of what you don't like as
well:

Just turn off the option to automatically add the country code to local
numbers in Outlook's Dialing options:
Contacts Folder > Actions > Call Contact... > New Call... > Dialing
Options...

Way better than what I suggested.
