Can I as the user control the fields that MS Outlook exports / imports to
other applications and devices?

I have set up my Treo 600 to sync contacts with MS Outlook (ver 2002)  Most
info fields under the "General" tab syncs up just fine, but I'm unable to
export fields like Birthday & Anniversary that appear under the "Details"
tab, although I have 5 custom fields to receive data in my Treo's contact
book.

I renamed Custom 1 to "Birthday" on my Treo 600, and Hotsync'ed and the date
got smartly copied as an embedded and linked date recurring-appointment icon
in the comment-text area below the mailing address field in the "General" tab
of Outlook Contacts.

I renamed Custom 2 to "Cuisine" on my Treo 600, and tried a Hotsync, the
information under Cuisine got lost. Same result when I created a user-defined
field called "Cuisine" under All Fields in the Outlook Contacts pane.

I run the standard-issue Palm desktop (ver 4.1)

TIA!

What gets synched between Outlook and a PDA and how it is mapped is
completely up to the sync software you're using.
