Is there a global way or macro way of marking all the contacts in a Category
as Private with out opening each contact and checking the Private box?

Hi Diane,

Thanks for the link, but either I'm missing something, or I may not have
made my question clear.

I have a category of contacts that I want to mark all the entries as
'Private'. I know how to do a group change for the category but that is not
what I am attempting to do.

The link makes reference for being able to do that with the Private setting
as well, but I tried the group change approach and did not see where I could
select the Private Box other than by opening each contact.  (Win XP Home SP2,
w/Outlook 2003-Office2003 Prof)

Only approach I came up with was to use 'list by category', then add the
Private column via the Field Chooser, and one at at time check the Private
Box down the column.  It worked, but is rather tedius when you are trying to
do that for hundreds of records.

Okay,  I figured it , Disregard last post.

Adding the Private Field, then slecting group by Private Field, and drag and
drop worked.

Thanks again.
