I frequently fax documents from my computer to local clients using my Outlook
address book. Since these clients are in the same area code as my office, I
am required to manually remove their area code before dialing, regardless if
I am sending to one contact or a group. I've looked through all of the
options but cannot find the workaround for this problem. Does anyone know
the solution?

I should also mention that it is completely impossible to utilize a group
name for faxing as the country code appears to embed itself when the group is
created.

Create a dialing rule. Make sure the fax number is in canonical format so
the dialing rule is invoked.

So you're saying that all I need to do is enter the phone numbers like this:
+1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx and I won't have to make any further changes when faxing?

As long as your dialing rules are correct. As the article illustrates,
canonical format tells the Fax Service to use your dialing rules for
dialing.
