Lost contacts in "to..." in untitled message window

My computer came back from  having the OS reinstalled. There the address book
in Outlook was backed up. After clicking the "to..." button in the untitled
message window to access the "select names" window there were 2 contacts
lists shown in the  drop down menu when previously there was only one. The
first was empty, the second was the contacts list I was used to using. I
tried to get rid of the first blank list because it meant an extra step in
getting to my contacts. Seems I did the wrong thing. Now there are no
contacts to be had and the drop down offers "personal address book" rather
than contacts. My contacts are still in my contacts folder but I can't access
them from the untitled message window's "to..." button. Any suggestions? I've
tried to import but to no avail, although I may be doing that incorrectly.

Thanks much. : )

You failed to post your version.
Normally one simply removes the invalid reference to a Contacts Folder here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.

So what did you do instead?
