Whenever I restart my computer the "Outlook 2003" Import Display opens in the windows asking me to select the type of file I want to import. How can I make this stop. I did the magic three fingered salute (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and the application that is causing this behavior is wabmig.exe List the steps that can reproduce your problem. Include how you installed Outlook 2003 and migrated data to your profile. The problem occurs every single time I shut down the computer and power it back up. It also occurs every single time I do a simple restart. I installed Microsoft Office 2003 last October and I did a full install. I used Aloha Bob's PC Relocator Software to transfer my files from my old computer to my new computer. I used my internal Ethernet Network LAN for the transfer. The problem just started last week and I cannot relate the problem's start to any newly installed software either. However, I do use Microsoft's automatic update via my cable modem connection that is active all the time. I use Windows XP Home Version 2002 with SP2; 1.18 GB of ram and the AMD Sempron 3400 processor. > List the steps that can reproduce your problem. The steps that produced the problem in the first place would be necessary. We'll have to wait and see if anyone else can reproduce it. Explain what you think wabmig.exe is. Not an outlook message. Sounds like a third party issue to me. The steps are simply restart the computer and during the startup process the Import Window Menu opens automatically. There are no "steps" required; except start the computer up. When I did the Ctrl+Alt+Del twice I was able to examine the Applicatins that were running. I was able to determine the wabmig.exe is the program that is controlling the Import display. I did the magic three fingered salute (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and the > >> > application that is causing this behavior is wabmig.exe Here is how I know that wabmsg.exe is the application that opens the Import address book display. #1 I restart the computer/ #2 The Addressbook Import Display Opens #3 Two Ctrl+Alt+Del and I get the Windows Task Mamger Display #4 I select the Applications Tab to see what applications are running #5 The Addressbook Import Tool is listed as one of the two applications running. #6 I right click on properties and select Go to Process. #7 This goes to the Process Tab and wabmsg.exe is highlighted #7 I shut down the wabmsg.exe process and the addressbook display closes. You will find that the file wabmig.exe is listed as both a MAG Innovision driver as well as an <Outlook Express> file. Add to that that this file is also a target of a old worm as per Symantec, could otherwise be "missing or damaged" - it may just all relate to your migration of your files from your "old system" and have nothing to do with Outlook '2003. You've spelled it two ways. Neither is an Outlook file. That's why you need to dig a little deeper. This is not an Outlook issue. Determine what application is throwing the error message. "Bob's PC Relocator Software" seems a prime target since your error message seems to do with data migration. It is wabmig.exe I really don't think anything related to the computer setup had anything to do with the problem I am having. The computer worked just fine for 6 full months after the transfer of my files from my old computer to the new computer. I did a "Start" Find Files and came up with wabmig.exe appearing in two places. Once in C:\Program Files\Outlook Express Again is C: WINDOWS\System32\dllcache I plan to do as Jim McGowan suggested. Except I plan to copy the wagmig.exe file from my other computer running Windows XP Home Edition with Internet Explorer 6. MY computer has the Beta 2 version of Internet Explorer 7. Try as I might I am unable to uninstall it. I have tried all of Microsoft's suggested fixes and none will work for me. Then reinstall Outlook Express. The installation will replace the wabmig.exe file. Updates are added to OE all the time as part Windows Automatic Updates, so that is one possibility for what triggered this problem. The question I have is why is Outlook invoking an OE file? Did Aloha Bob ever migrate you from OE to Outlook? Did you ever run Office 2000 on this partition? Third I renamed the two files wabmig.old. They were in C:\Program Files\Outlook Express and in C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache I next restarted the computer and the problem was still there. I did another search for wabmig.exe and low and behold Windows had recreated the file in the Outlook Express Folder all by itself. Plus one now existed in the Windows Prefetch file too. So I deleted both files. I did not rename them. I deleted them. Next I went to www.driversguide.com and downloaded a new 40kb wabmig.exe file dated in 2004. The old wabmig.exe was only 26kb. Next I opened the C: Drive and went to: C:\Program Files\Outlook Express and deleted the old wabmig.old file plus one windows had recreated. Then I went to C:\WINDOWS\System32\dllcache and deleted the wabmig.old file there too. Then I restarted the computer and low and behold the same old address import window opened all by itself. So the problem persists and it must not be a corrupted wabmig.exe file that is causing the problem > Let us know what happens. Wabmig.exe is exactly what runs when, in Outlook Express, you click File>Import>Other Address Book. Is wabmig.exe inadvertently included in your Startup profile folder or in one of the Windows Run or RunOnce registry keys? Use Start>Run>msconfig to find out. SignatureBrian Tillman SUCCESS!!!!!!! Now do I dare delete this item from the Startup Folder? How do I delete the callout if it is OK to do? I also found a bazillion references to Symantec Programs that were long since removed.
