Because "Contact Manager" is not available to me, to send emails to multiple
contacts I click the icon next to the "To" field. This opens a window for
selecting a folder of contacts from which i can select the needed addresses.
There is a blank folder which is the default.  How can I delte this blank
folder, or at least change the default?  Thank you.

What is the name of that "blank folder?"
You can easily select which folder to display first in the Address Book view

Hi, Russ:  Thanks for responding.  There are two folders with the name
"Contacts"; one is blank, the other contains all of my contacts.

Just eliminate the invalid one here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.
