Changing default contacts folder

How do you change the default contacts folder for Outlook 2003? I have my
e-mail delivered to an Outlook .pst file to keep the server free and clear
due to the size limitations put on us. However, whenever I try to add a
contact, it always adds it to the server contact list instead of my default
.pst file for e-mails. Thanks in advance!!

YOu SHOULD have the server (Exchange, I presume) as the default and your
Contacts, Calendar, etc. should remain there. If you're limited on mailbox
space, then moving your mail to folders in a PST is the best way to handle
it, as you are doing. If you were to make the PST the delivery locaton
you'll lose many (most?) of the features using Exchange gives you.

Not sure what functionality I'm losing. I'm still able to function fully
with making the pst file the default file.

Sharing your calendar, recording your free/busy information, access to
messages via OWA, backups of your data (unless you do it), deleted items
retention, and other functions are lost when your delivery location is a
PST.

First a big thanks for the help on a couple of issues now. My pst to deliver
to is 1.3 GB which is way too large for my server which allows 500 MB. I'll
keep trying to skinny it down to get these functions available.

Like I said, continue to use your PST for storing messages, moving them
there from the mailbox Inbox with rules, autoarchive, or manually.
Everything else, leave in the mailbox. The vast majority of space in any
data store is usually mail so leaving everything but mail in the mailbox
shouldn't put much of a demand on the server quota.

I actually found out how to do the contacts switch by accident. In the
Address Book, click Tools and then Options. This brings up a tile called
Addressing. It contains a pull down menu called "Keep personal addresses in"
which helps decide the default contact location for the contacts you use.
