Outlook Address Book Service & Ris Image

Hello

We use Microsoft Ris to image our machines with WinXP sp 2 and Office xp sp3.

Once built, a user will login to the domain and if they are a member of a
global group, then a *.pf file is used to configure their outlook.

For some reason, when users login now, Outlook gets configured but the OAB
is either not installed as a service, or it is installed but not ticked on
the contacts properties.

I have read that this property is held on the Exchange server and not
locally which confuses me even more! I don't know where to start looking to
troubleshoot this problem: is it my image, is it the configuration file or is
it the Exchange Server?!

thanks

You mean a .prf file, not a .pf file, right? And OAB = Outlook Address Book, not offline address book, right?

The missing Outlook Address Book after creating settings with a .prf file is a known problem, although the exact cause and thus the cure are not known. The workaround is to provide a second .prf file that the user can run after initial Outlook profile configuration. The second .prf should include only the settings needed to modify the default profile and add the OAB.

Users' mail profile settings are held in the Windows registry, not on the Exchange server.
