I am taking an Outlook class right now. Outlook 2003 was already installed on
my computer, and automatically set up with my aol address. In one of my labs,
it asks me to set up a new folder, but when I try to do that it won't let me.
It says "Unable to create the folder. You cannot create subfolders in a
web-based account". How can I fix this so I don't have to take my machine
into school??? HELP!!!

I usually start by paying attention to the error message. What does it
suggest to you? If you don't know, then at the very least provide us with
the information on what type of mail account this is.

That IS the error message. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask what type
of mail account this is.

POP/SMTP, HTTP, IMAP, etc.
Most likely you are using an information store that does not permit you to
create folders.

It sounds to me like the AOL account was set up for him as an HTTP account
(which won't work) rather than an IMAP account.

Him, is a her. I set up an IMAP account to use AOL with Outlook and it still
didn't work. I finally caved and took my machine into school and let the IT
guys work with it.
