I have Outlook 2003.  In my address book when I am selecting names to send an
e-mail, it also lists business fax numbers.  Is there any way to remove the
business fax number from showing in the Select Names window, without removing
the fax number from the contact?

Since a FAX number is a legitimate electronic address, it is correct
behaviour for Outlook's address book to show it.  If you don't want it
listed, you must either put it in a field other than the FAX field or you
should modify it so that it isn't regognizable as a FAX number, say by
putting an "F" on the front of the number.  Alternatively, you can buy a
tool like this:

Outlook considers fax numbers to be valid electronic addresses, since there
are many client- and server-based components that can use such addresses.

One method to hide fax numbers from the address book is to prefix the fax
number with one or more letters (maybe B for business fax, H for home, O for
other). If the fax number begins with a letter, Outlook won't show it in the
address book.

There are a couple of utilities that can help you hide fax numbers from the
address book. See:

Another way to avoid having fax numbers appear in the address book is
simply not to enter data in the fax fields. Put fax numbers in some other
(non-phone) fields.
